The HVCA works towards actively bettering the community by offering programing, providing community updates in newsletters and on social media platforms and revitalizing our outdoor spaces under the H2Spaces program (www.h2spaces.org). As a member, your input determines the direction of these programs and helps advance community goals.

When participating in community-hosted events you can make new friends and encourage community association awareness. Active participation supports financial health and sustainability for the HVCA to continue to host family-oriented events and present new types of events for everyone to enjoy. Typically, the HVCA hosts several annual events such as the community spring clean-up, winter festival, sports wind-up party. In addition to annual events, the HVCA has been working hard to find out what other types of events our members would like to participate in. Whether that is a youth job fair, or senior’s tea or perhaps just a doggy day for all the “fur babies” out there.

With the help of increased memberships and support from our local businesses, the HVCA hopes to be able to create a variety of different types of events in the future for our members to choose from.

Acquire volunteering hours and develop skills to use in everyday life.

Volunteering with the HVCA allows you to obtain volunteering hours for your personal, educational, or professional development, and provides the opportunity to learn new skills such as: event management, grant writing, program development and management, teams coordination, leadership and much more. Volunteering with the community can be fulfilling as your time and efforts directly affects the lives of those around you. Our volunteers help kids practice new sports, keep the rink ice maintained in the winter, run the Board and facilitate change to our outdoor spaces. We participate in fundraising casinos so that we can continue to provide new events and enhance the community. Each volunteer makes a difference in our success.

Common activities to meet our common goals help to turn neighbours into friends and demonstrate the difference combined efforts make.
